Mission Statement

Founded in 2008, the mission of Thin Man Theatre is to promote the works of new and interesting artists by creating opportunities for both burgeoning and veteran actors, technicians, writers, and designers to grow, create, and enjoy the magic of theatre. Through our productions, we attempt to engage artistic and technical elements to inform our passion for live theatre. At Thin Man, we work collaboratively to create an experience that is as much about the process as the product.

Thin Man is so named after the Dashiell Hammett’s hard-boiled detective novel and Nick and Nora Charles. Thin Man was founded in Northampton, Massachusetts, home of the Academy of Music, where William Powell (who would later go on to play Nick Charles in the 1934 film adaptation of the popular mystery) was a member of the Northampton Players.  Thin Man Theatre has produced plays in Berkeley, California and Northampton, Massachusetts.
